Why Northwest Arkansas Homes Lose Comfort

Arkansas summers are hot and humid and winters get cold. If your home has gaps in the building envelope, conditioned air escapes and outside air and moisture push in. Your system runs longer, some rooms never feel right, and your bills climb.

Traditional insulation slows heat transfer but does little to stop air movement. Spray foam does both. It expands to fill gaps, then hardens into a continuous air barrier and insulation layer in one step.

Open-Cell and Closed-Cell Foam

Open-cell foam is lighter and softer. It is an excellent air seal at a lower cost per board foot and is a strong choice for interior walls and many attic assemblies.

Closed-cell foam is denser. It delivers more R-value per inch, adds structural rigidity, and resists moisture, which makes it the right call for crawl spaces, rim joists, and areas that need a vapor control layer. During your free estimate we recommend the type that fits the area and your budget.

Where Spray Foam Makes Sense

Attics

Seal the roof deck or the attic floor to stop the single biggest source of heat gain and loss.

Walls

New construction and open wall cavities, for a tight, quiet, efficient shell.

Crawl spaces and rim joists

Stop moisture and ground air from entering the floor system.

Bonus rooms and additions

Rooms over garages and additions that never seem to stay comfortable.

Open-Cell vs Closed-Cell: How to Choose

Choose open-cell

when you want a strong, cost-effective air seal for interior walls or a vented-to-conditioned attic, and moisture control is not the main concern.

Choose closed-cell

when you need maximum R-value in limited space, added rigidity, or a moisture and vapor barrier, such as crawl spaces and rim joists.

What Affects Spray Foam Cost

Every home is different, so we never quote a flat price sight unseen. The main factors are:

  • Square footage and area sprayed
  • Open-cell vs closed-cell and the thickness needed
  • Ease of access to the space
  • Existing insulation and any prep or removal
  • Retrofit vs new construction
  • Overall complexity of the assembly

Spray Foam Insulation FAQ

Is spray foam worth it in Arkansas?
For most homes here, yes. The combination of heat, humidity and cold seasons rewards a tight, well-insulated envelope. Spray foam addresses air leakage and R-value at once, which is why it often outperforms adding more of a loose insulation alone.
Can you spray foam an existing attic?
Yes. We commonly retrofit existing attics, either at the roof deck or the attic floor. During the estimate we look at your setup and recommend the approach that fits.
Open-cell or closed-cell for my attic?
It depends on the assembly, ventilation and your goals. Both work in attics. We explain the tradeoffs during your estimate and recommend the right one, never the most expensive one by default.
How long does it take?
Most residential jobs are done in a single day, often two to five hours of spray time depending on square footage. Larger or multi-area projects can run one to two days.
Is it safe once installed?
Yes. Once fully cured, spray foam is a stable, inert material. The only real safety window is during application and curing, which is why our crews use protective gear and proper ventilation.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. iFOAM of Northwest Arkansas offers financing so the cost does not have to come out of pocket up front.
